Space and the Broomhouse Hub

Our vision at Space, and the new Broomhouse Hub, is

‘to nurture, support and inspire, so that lives are fuller, potential is fulfilled and community connections flourish.’

The charity that manages and runs the Broomhouse Hub (the former Broomhouse Centre) will be known as ‘Space’,

and this has been inspired by our conversations with all of you.

Coronavirus Update

What does Coronavirus mean for our services at Space & the Broomhouse Hub at the moment?

The current changes to services are:

Café at the Hub: Open from 11.30am – 1.30pm for take away food to those who have family meal vouchers. Social distancing measures are in place to allow for a 2m gap when queuing.

Groups: We are following advice and guidance from best practice, and therefore our decision is to move all our core services to telephone and/or digital services for the next 2 weeks and will review again. These are:

Café Training
Beacon Club
Adult Carers
Young Carers
Youth Befriending
Vintage Vibes
Sista Space
Book Bug
English Lessons
Well Being Space
Drop-in Youth Cafe

Your contact at the project will be in touch with you and meanwhile if any questions, call us directly on 0131 455 7731.

Our outside catering is still operational and we can cater for small groups for essential meetings.

We aim to be able to coordinate initiatives to help the local community as needs emerge, e.g. for older people or for families, and if you want to volunteer for this, we will be putting up a link shortly for that. You can leave your details for now, by emailing office@spacescot.org.
Thank you for your understanding at this time.
Space & Broomhouse Hub team.

The Beacon Club offers a safe space for elderly people with Dementia to come together and be supported. Through Vintage Vibes, in partnership with LifeCare, we support isolated people over 60 with one to one companionship. We help Adult Carers, through a support group or one to one. Our Space for Wellbeing is a friendly and relaxed peer support group.

Book us for your next event, conference, birthday party or meeting – we have a wonderful Space for Hospitality and Events. We have a Space for Co-working, with hot desks available by the hour, the day or all year around, these might be for a start-up business, a social enterprise, a statutory agency or charity.

Space Kitchen Café is open every day, Monday to Friday; try our delicious, freshly cooked food! If you’d like to develop life and social skills in a supportive catering environment, Space Kitchen Training could be for you. Space Kitchen Catering is our Social Enterprise; book us now for your next event or outside catering.

There is space for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers. There is Space for Youth Befriending, in partnership with Big Hearts, for young people in kinship care. On a Friday night we have a Youth Drop in session for local young people. Check out weekly Bookbug for families, and a new Space for mums.
