Exciting opportunity
Space, trading name of the Broomhouse Centre, is a community development trust, which delivers services across South West Edinburgh and beyond, and manages the Broomhouse Hub. It is seeking an exceptional Chief Executive with extensive experience in and commitment to the community and voluntary sector.
The Chief Executive will be committed to addressing the issues the organisation works to address including poverty and inclusion. You will be able to develop and further the vision and must have the strong leadership skills required to drive it forward.
You will be a dynamic leader who will provide sound strategic and financial direction, maintaining the momentum of varied services, income generation and community development, consolidating our position as a leading provider of services for health and wellbeing in South West Edinburgh .
You will be a person with enthusiasm, determination, vision and excellent team building skills. We will expect you to provide confident engagement with our funders, partners and stakeholders, creating trust and giving clarity to our vision and mission.
We would be delighted to hear from you if you believe your skills and leadership experience as a CEO or at a senior level make you a great candidate for this post.
Background
Space is a charity and company limited by guarantee, first established in 1991 to provide personal, social and community development opportunities for disadvantaged groups of people in the South West Neighbourhood Partnership area. It now primarily operates across Edinburgh’s South West Locality and in some cases, city wide.
There is strong governance in place with a board of Trustees made up of ten directors, all either local members or business directors with expertise in business, finance, communications, management consultancy and human resource management.
Exciting times ahead
This dynamic organisation, having opened its new £3.2 million hub in late 2019, had a lead role during 2020 supporting the people made vulnerable by the pandemic in South West Edinburgh, as well as continuing to deliver core services. These services will never be more needed to address poverty, unemployment, trauma and inclusion. In the economic climate ahead, it will also be essential to create successful social enterprise income streams, using mechanisms such as community wealth building, enabling the organisation to work more sustainably, and on wellbeing and green initiatives.
