Welcome to a New Year with Space @ The Broomhouse Hub! We have loads on this year and January is already looking super busy.
We are very much aware that cost of living remains a big issue for everyone and have a number of community meals already scheduled. Many of our groups start back next week ,we will also be adding more events and support over the year too.
Returning Groups
The Beacon Club have already returned to The Hub and their additional service at Gilmerton restarts from Monday. Contact Nancy Bryson for more information on either of these services.
Tuesday BookBug returns with songs and stories for ages 0-4. This includes a free hot roll for parents and toast for our smaller guests! New members welcome. Thanks to DWF Foundation for their support!
Young Carers services are back Monday 9th and will take place as normal on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Young Adult Carers group will also meet Thursday 12th January as will PHEW which offers 18 to 25 year olds a safe and friendly space to make connections with others and develop a better understanding of mental health and wellbeing.
Our super popular Youth Club is also back on Friday!
We also have Vintage Vibes supporting older people at risk of isolation or loneliness. You can read more about their work here.
New Classes
Pick N Mix to Employment for 16-24 year olds starts back 16th January. This includes training and help to find work, including interview techniques, CV writing and job tasters as well as sessions designed to boost confidence and lower anxiety when it comes to job hunting. Space Station, our eight week introduction to hospitality and catering, open to all ages, also starts back 16th January. Perfect for anyone looking to get into a growing sector after being out of work or looking for a change in career. again, contact Lyndsey for more information.
For parents, our Planning Futures for Parents course starts back 23rd January at 9:30 with the first session on building confidence. Specifically designed to help parents wanting to get back into work, creche facilities are also provided. For more information or to sign up contact Hazel Lyons.
Upcoming Events
Community Meal and Crafting with B-Healthy Together takes place 19th January. Good food and family fun! Look out for more information very soon. These are always popular events and there is no cost at all.
Burns (not a) Supper 25th January. Get stuck in to Haggis, Neeps and Tatties in our Cafe as part of a traditional Burns Night celebration. The big difference will be this is a family event so no alcohol and… it will be through lunchtime rather than at supper but what’s not to love?
Coorie In with free food and good company. Thanks to support from The national Lottery, we will be extending our free food afternoons into 2023. There will also be other events to support this work with adive on energy saving, benefits and more throughout the year!
