An Afternoon of Great Food and Community Spirit

Last week we held a joint event with B Healthy Together for the latest in our series of Community Meals here at the Hub. Members of the community came together to enjoy a nutritious hot meal with fellow Broomies in a comforting and warm space. Arts and crafts were the activity of the day, with everyone given the chance to have a go at making their very own, handmade cards. It’s great to see the results of the cardmaking session – these are beautiful cards anyone would be happy to receive!

B Healthy Together

B Healthy Together are a community-led health project based in the South West of Edinburgh. Their aim is to improve the health and well-being within the community by providing a variety of social health activities. Their focus, in particular, is on how health is affected by everyday life and is as much about the quality of your emotional and social situation as it is about your experience of disease or disability.

They provide a range of free services to the community, including cookery classes, exercise classes, and creative groups. These services aim to increase confidence and skills, reduce social isolation, and empower the community to take steps that positively impact their health and wellbeing. Rebecca Dickson, from B Healthy Together, delivered the event and confirmed that it was a great success.

It went really well, and the general feeling is that people would want another similar event to be run in the near future.

Definitely something to keep in mind! We are looking forward to the next Community Meal already. If you would like to attend one of our future Community Meals, please keep an eye on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds for regular updates of any upcoming events!
