With the cost-of-living crisis affecting all of us, the Community Café at Space and Broomhouse Hub is providing free meals to all children over the school holidays.

There are no forms to fill out, no questions to answer and there is no need to make an additional purchase from the Café.

Fresh, homemade daily specials are on offer in the bright, welcoming Café with lunch served from 12pm to 1:30pm.

A spokesperson for Space said:

“We recognise that the cost of living has risen dramatically over the past few months and some families are having to make difficult choices about all their expenditure, including food.

“Throughout the pandemic we saw free school meals continuing to be provided for those that wanted them. This summer, there is no such provision so, first and foremost, as an organisation which has been integral to the Broomhouse and Southwest Edinburgh community for over 30 years we have taken the decision to step in and provide this service.

“There is no means testing, no forms to complete and no judgement passed. We want everyone to come along and enjoy our fantastic food and have a great time in the Café.”

All food is prepared on site in the kitchen which provides training and employment opportunities for people from across the local area. Outside catering is also available and enables Space to provide community focused services.
