Our Youth Befriending Service, alongside Big Hearts has had a fun packed summer with trips out and activities supporting young people in kinship care.
The group have taken part in epic battles at Edinburgh Combat, walked on the wild side at Blair Drummond Safari Park. Got wet at Foxlake Adventures and enjoyed the benefits of the warmer weather with a trip to Aberdour Beach!
Jane Harkin, Big Hearts Project Worker at Space commented:
“Our befriending program with Big Hearts helps children who are being cared for by a family member make memories, build self esteem and gain confidence. Whatever the reason a child is placed with a family member it can mean lots of additional hardships. Through our work, those attending have reported a big boost to their mental health which has helped in all aspects of life, even helping improve engagement with school work.
“This summer has been extra good thanks to the weather we have enjoyed. There have only been a few light showers, although wet weather was never an issue with Foxlake! We are delighted to continue to deliver this vital service for the young people of Edinburgh.”
